Black Mountains May 2009
Eight women gathered on Friday afternoon for a weekend of walks in wall-to-wall sunshine, during which we climbed two mountains, saw bluebells still very much in flower at the end of May, and heard many different birds singing. Skylarks flew vertically above us singing to distract us from their nests. We were tantalised by the calls of cuckoos we couldn't see, until suddenly two flew across our path as we climbed Sugar Loaf Mountain, helpfully calling "cuckoo" in case we didn't recognise them! On several occasions red kites circled above us, looking for prey, hopefully not us! On Sunday we walked in the cool woods of St Mary's Vale, beside the gurgling stream, right to the point at which it emerged as a spring beneath the mountain. All the women felt a great sense of achievement, and enjoyed the splendid views from the tops, followed by good meals and companionship in the congenial surroundings of The Hill, Abergavenny. "A well arranged trip with a friendly group of people. Everyone felt important and Anne went out of her way to make the trip happy, no task was too large for her to handle. Thank you Anne & Chris for a fun filled weekend" Shahina "There is nothing better than walking with Anne & Women Out Walking. Support, friendliness and encouragement abound. A really warm welcome-everyone gelled!"Bronwen more on Testimonials page
