Peak District (north) August 2010
August 6th-9th, (3 nights-Friday-Monday) Fully booked We'll be based in Castleton, Derbyshire for three nights, staying at at Losehill Hall. From here we can enjoy wonderful walks straight out onto the hills, with great views from the ridges, and stunning limestone valleys. We'll pass Peveril Castle, built by William the Conqueror to (attempt to) tame the natives, we can climb Mam Tor, the shivering mountain, and maybe Lose Hill and Win Hill, with views towards Ladybower Reservoir. Losehill Hall is the Peak District Study Centre, and we have reserved all single ensuite rooms at no supplement.The centre is run on eco friendly lines, and has lovely grounds surrounding the house. Meals are delicious and plentiful, and there is an interesting selection of reasonably priced wines available. Castleton has a variety of small shops, pubs and teashops, and an interesting Tourist Information Centre. See photos from a previous holiday here.
